Collection: Celtic Brooches
The penannular, or open ring brooch, was a Roman and Celtic type of clothing fastener. Although much older, penannular brooches begin to appear in significant numbers in Ireland the Britain around 200 AD.
By 800 AD the style was uniquely Celtic, decorated with geometric and zoomorphic (animal form) designs.
